Pachter Blames US Wii Shortage on Weak Dollar

With a weak dollar, foreign companies that sell their goods in the U.S. for dollars and then convert those dollars to their native currencies get a smaller profit than if they sell their products in countries with strong currencies of their own (such as Europe with the euro). In other words, Nintendo makes a bigger profit on Wiis sold in Europe than on Wiis sold in the U.S. – Michael Pachter (Wedbush Morgan) paraphrase

He may be on to something, Nintendo does have a history of being able to make money by playing the currency exchange game.  Ultimately though I think the real problem is that Nintendo just can’t produce enough Wiis to meet demand.  Click the link to read the full article.

PlayStation Store Has a New Look… Soon

The good news is that the PlayStation Store will look a whole lot better come mid-April.  That is when the new look pictured above is set to go live.  Bad news is that the store will not be updated with new content until after the new look takes over.

To enable enhancements to be made to the store, no additional downloadable content will be posted prior to the revamp, starting April 3. However, customers will be able to access, browse, shop and download from the PLAYSTATION Store during this period.

Conspiracy Entertainment CEO – Letter to Shareholders

We anticipate to report over $5 million in revenues (unaudited) for the three months ended December 31, 2007. This represents a year-over-year increase in sales of 2824% compared to $171,000 reported in the fourth quarter of 2006. Fourth quarter 2007 revenues grew 194% compared to $1.7 million reported in the third quarter of 2007. For the year ended December 31, 2007, we expect to report over $7.5 million in revenues (unaudited), compared to $803,493 (audited) for the year ended December 31, 2006.

We have closed 2007 with great optimism and believe 2008 will be one of our strongest years of revenue growth in our decade-long history. We have 10 to 20 additional games on all major platforms scheduled for release this year, and are well positioned to build shareholder value in 2008 and beyond.

Hopefully Conspiracy Entertainment will focus on the quality of the games they are putting out in 2008.  I do not see them being able to continue with the same amount of growth without addressing that issue.  Read the full letter at the link.
