As you probably noticed, we’ve completed a server wide reboot without much notice on a day that we typically don’t perform maintenance. It’s only fair that we keep you in the loop and make sure you know what’s going on. Over the last week we’ve been working on a list, we’ve been checking it twice, and today we found out who was naughty or nice… When the servers come back online, nearly 16,000 accounts will have been removed from the game… Please note that if your account was closed for the use of 3rd party software (botting) or participating in RMT (gold buying/selling) the evidence for the account closure was gathered over several weeks. It may be completely unrelated to what your character was doing right when your account was closed. – statement on Aion’s official forums
Glad to see NCsoft is on top of this. Of course you know that the whole thing will have to be repeated in another month or so.

Atari has relaunched their website to fit in more with the company’s plans to become completely digital. The new site has a store to buy new Atari titles and other branded merchandise. The highlight of the site however is the ability to play several vintage Atari arcade and 2600 titles, like Battlezone pictured above.
Check out the site at the link below.

“We already have some pre-visualisations… The people in Tokyo are just so glad to work on it; this is the first project for them that’s a non-Final Fantasy title— they even want to work on Thief 4 too, so everyone is really excited.” – Stephane D’Astous, Eidos Montreal general manager

Posted by Justin, on November 24th, 2009 SANTA MONICA, CA – November 24, 2009 – Hailed as the “#1 Best Video Game Right Now” by Rolling Stone and “an impressive piece of work” by Entertainment Weekly, the DJ Hero™ set list is expanding again with the addition of three new downloadable tracks. Beginning today, living room legends and budding superstar DJ’s alike are invited to experience the euphoric rhythms of David Guetta and keep the party going with downloadable remixes of the ubiquitous “When Love Takes Over” featuring Kelly Rowland, the chart topping “Sexy Chick” featuring Akon and “On The Dancefloor” featuring will.i.am and apl.de.ap of the Black Eyed Peas.

That’s actually a really good idea, as long as it is in addition to the current DLC model and not in lieu of it. That way consumers who download often could use the subscription and those who only download every few months or so could just pay for the content they want.

Expecting game designers to be responsible by not glorifying terrorism will always lead to disappointment.” – South Australian attorney-general Michael Atkinson
Don’t forget all you guys and gals down under you have a chance to kick this censorship loving ass-hat out of office in 2010. I hope you take it.

At a recent Avatar junket the Official PlayStation Magazine asked Ubisoft scriptwriter Kevin Shortt if he was working on a third Far Cry game to which he replied “No I’m not. But I know the team are and what I’ve seen looks pretty exciting.”
It’s not often that you get such a straight answer out of anyone in the video game industry. I guess Mr. Shortt didn’t get the “We don’t comment on rumors or speculation” memo.
