I would be very surprised if this turns out to be the case. The more likely senerio is that both Natal and Sony’s Wand will have a small install base made up of consumers who currently already own the system. If Microsoft, Sony or any analysts thinks that the average casual consumer is going ditch their Wii run to the store pick up a more expensive console, plus the cost of the new motion controller and any other games, they are only fooling themselves.
Natal and Sony’s motion controller are about 3 years late to the party and although they may in fact be fine pieces of hardware they will not get the casual gamers attention like the Wii did. That ship has sailed and both companies would be better served to keep these ideas for the next generation of consoles.
