EA planning something “far-reaching” for Mass Effect in 2011

In addition to all the other new TBA titles that Electronic Arts announced yesterday the company also revealed that “something far-reaching” from the Mass Effect franchise will come out during the fourth quarter of their fiscal 2011 (the three months ending 3/31/2011).

While the “far-reaching” comment is a little strange, this is most likely about the already semi-announced Mass Effect 3.

BioWare working on Mass Effect 3, will release this generation

“We are already at work on Mass Effect 3.  Building the first bits of the story, putting that together… We always wanted to make sure that we got the entire trilogy of games done within this console’s life cycle. We didn’t want to take forever with it.  So we definitely want to make Mass Effect 3 a fairly short turnaround, but also being that it needs to be a tremendous and epic conclusion to the trilogy.” – BioWare project manager Casey Hudson
